Mission and history

UMOJA for Peace and Resilience (UPR) is a non-profit organization founded in 2019, dedicated to
supporting displaced and vulnerable communities. UPR works closely with communities in Uganda and
the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to build peace, foster resilience, and promote inclusive
development.

Our mission is to empower individuals and communities affected by conflict, displacement, and chronic
vulnerability. Since 2019, UPR has reached 64,000 people through community-based programs in
peacebuilding, livelihoods, education, and protection, helping communities resolve conflicts, strengthen
social cohesion, and improve economic opportunities.

UPR works hand in hand with local leaders and community groups to ensure that its programs are
relevant, sustainable, and truly make a difference in people’s lives, while maintaining accountability and
transparency in all interventions.
